As approved at the 2008 International Convention in
Louisville, KY, all law enforcement, EMT and
firefighters in United States and Canada are eligible to
become members without paying dues or per capita taxes
for one year of membership. This program does include
volunteer, paid, and military law enforcement and
firefighters, as well as those that have dropped from
our Order and have not received a free year of
membership.
Eligibility:
WHO: Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters,
Emergency Medical Technicians, including Military Law
Enforcement and Firefighters
WHAT: These individuals join the Fraternal Order of
Eagles for one (1) year at no cost to them or the
Aerie/Auxiliary.
- They pay no local Aerie/Auxiliary dues
- They pay no initiation fees
- The Aerie/Auxiliary pays no per capita for their
1st year of membership
WHERE: Every Aerie and Auxiliary in the United
States and Canada
WHEN: This campaign started as of September 1, 2008
and will run until changed by the Board of Grand
Trustees.

- Do these individuals need to be sponsored by two
(2) current members of the Order?
- Yes, if you would like to meet members or learn
where the nearest Aerie is to you, use our Aerie
Locator tool found on the Web site.
- Do these potential members need to be
interviewed, voted on, and initiated?
- Yes, as is required in our Constitution and
Statutes.
- When does the Aerie/Auxiliary start paying per
capita tax on the new members?
- The first cycle of per capita tax is due the
following year upon and contingent on their
reenrollment in the Aerie/Auxiliary.
- Do the current Law Enforcement, EMT, and
Firefighters who are already members get a free year
of membership?
- No, this campaign is open to new members only.
- Do the proposers get credit for the members and
qualify for the membership awards?
- Yes, all proposers will be acknowledged
accordingly.
- What about dropped law enforcement, firefighter
and EMTs? Can they reenroll for free?
- As long as they have been dropped, and their
reenrollment application is dated September 1, 2008
or later, they may reenroll and get their first year
of membership free.
- How are these members reported?
- The Secretary will report them using the MMS
system, which is ready to record these members. If
the Aerie/Auxiliary is not yet set up on the MMS
system they should indicate this on the report form
next to the individual’s name.
- Is there a special application these potential
members need to complete?
- No, a regular application is used and the member
should indicate if they are law enforcement, a
firefighter, or an EMT.
- Are Law Enforcement, EMT, and Firefighters
responsible for paying the $20.00 Charter Fee when
applying to a New Aerie/Auxiliary?
- Yes, they are responsible for paying the $20.00
